This Privacy Policy is provided in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). It is offered here in English for convenience; in the event of any discrepancy, the original Japanese version prevails. View the Japanese version.
We recognize the importance of protecting our customers' personal information. We comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (the "APPI") and strive to handle and protect personal information appropriately, in accordance with the Privacy Policy set out below.
In this Privacy Policy, "personal information" means personal information as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the APPI — namely, information about a living individual that can identify the specific individual by name, date of birth, or other description contained in the information (including information that can be readily collated with other information and thereby identify the individual), or information containing an individual identification code.
We use customers' personal information for the following purposes:
We may change the purposes of use within a scope reasonably deemed relevant, and where we do so, we will notify or publicly announce the change to customers.
Except as permitted by the APPI or other laws, we will not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use without the customer's consent, except in the following cases:
We acquire personal information properly and do not acquire it by deception or other improper means.
We carry out necessary and appropriate supervision to manage personal information safely against risks such as loss, destruction, alteration, and leakage. Where we outsource all or part of the handling of personal information, we exercise necessary and appropriate supervision over the contractor.
Except where disclosure is permitted under the APPI or other laws, we do not provide personal information to third parties without the customer's prior consent. However, the following do not constitute provision to a third party:
When a customer requests disclosure of personal information under the APPI, we will, after confirming the request is from the customer, disclose it without delay (or notify the customer if no such information exists). This does not apply where we are not obligated to disclose under the APPI or other laws.
When a customer requests correction, addition, or deletion ("Correction, etc.") of personal information on the grounds that it is untrue, we will, after confirming the request is from the customer, conduct a necessary investigation without delay within the scope needed to achieve the purposes of use, make the Correction, etc. based on the results, and notify the customer (or notify the customer if we decide not to make the Correction). This does not apply where we are not obligated to do so under the APPI or other laws.
Where a customer requests suspension of use or erasure ("Suspension of Use, etc.") on the grounds that the information is being handled beyond the previously announced purposes of use or was acquired by improper means, and the request is found to have grounds, we will, after confirming the request is from the customer, suspend use without delay and notify the customer. This does not apply where we are not obligated to do so under the APPI or other laws.
